SCHOOL SAFETY.jpg

Schools are like second homes for the students. They are the demo version of the society that students get to experience firsthand. They are the places where the citizens of tomorrow get nurtured and evolved. The school staff is basically responsible for shaping the future of the country. Prior to any teaching strategies, approaches, or infrastructure, the major focus should be on creating a healthy school environment, a safe bubble where the students will feel comforted and would want to learn with joyful experiences. The student’s safety should be taken into due consideration as well as the staff, which includes the teaching and admin departments, before anything.

Building safe schools should be a priority for architects, engineers, policymakers, administrators, and emergency response planners. Amongst all the students are the most vulnerable. Hence their safety plans should be drafted on a priority basis, and every staff member should be flexible and knowledgeable enough to use them. School safety includes within its ambit structural safety of the buildings per se and non-structural measures like awareness generation, ensuring communication, school preparedness plans, capacity building of students and teachers, rehearsals, mock drills, etc. School safety includes everything from the picking up of students/staff from their bus stops to dropping them off. This ensures safety against every kind of abuse which can be physical abuse, psycho-social abuse, violence, disasters: natural or man-made, fire, transportation, emotional or mental abuse, bullying, or anything else of that sort. The safety of the students should be ensured on four prominent levels which are mentioned below:

i. Physical Safety

ii. Emotional, Personal, and Social Safety

iii. Emergency Preparedness

iv. Cyber Safety

Listening as a habit…

Apr 07, 2022
MBD GROUP
Epictetus, a Greek Stoic Philosopher quoted, “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak”.

Listening is inevitable; we pay all ears to many people. People like our parents, teachers, mentors, managers, colleagues, or… you know.

But! Why listening is important? Some scholars suggest that paying attention is important when you want to liaise with someone effectively. People also advocate that it is mandatory when you want to gain knowledge. There can be many perspectives and points of view. Let’s chew over them in the following write-up.

In this modern era, we mostly listen to answers rather than listening to the opposition’s feelings and views. No wonder some individuals have communication gaps!

However, it is something that we all can rectify. How? Hearken below:
Try not to think of an answer;
Nod at times;
Make eye contact! (After all, the speaker should feel the attention you pay);
Sit straight;
Remain quiet and alert;
Listen to understand and not to give suggestions; Let the speaker find his/her solution by brainstorming.

To conclude, next time, when you interact with someone, listen and understand that person and you will explore a new ideology to go through. Also, getting awareness on different subjects is always a perk.

Importance of Print Media in our present Generation

May 09, 2018
MBD GROUP

Now a days Newspapers have become a part of our life. It helps to us to know what is going on in and around the world. Print media comes in different forms like daily newspapers, Weekly magazines and Monthly Books. Print media is very useful for the present generation in terms of improving their knowledge in various aspects like Politics, economics, stock market, sports, business and movies etc. Print media is one of the fastest growing industries in current generation because most of the advertisers and marketers choose the newspapers for targeting the customers with their advertisements. It is a very easy way to target the customers. The most important difference between print media and other media is that Readership. Only print media has maximum Readership. Based on this, Literacy rate of India has increased.

     PRO’s and Cons of Print Media

PRO’S:

No special requirements are needed for Print media as compared to other media like electricity, Network access and special skills (Internet skills).
It requires less skills like Reading skills (Ex: 80 years old persons can read the newspapers, but they don’t know how to surf a website).
We can use the newspapers for advertisement purpose with some interesting ads in a given space.
Print media is a feasible easy to spread the news to any particular area as compared to other media like Newspapers, weekly magazines andamp; Monthly Magazines
Some forms of Print media have a great amount of fans and lovers. This is one of the greatest boost to attract the Readership.
For advertising purpose, you can use brochures or leaflets depending up on your customers.

CON’S:

Lack of speed: As compared with other media it takes time to reach the customers due to printing of the latest news and events. Before printing also, many actions are included such as article writing, content editing, lay out checking and finally delivering.

Lack of syntax freedom: A newspaper contains only text and images where as other media contains sound and Video.

This is fit for a particular area because if you are targeting global audience, it is not suitable whereas internet has a wider range to reach the consumers very easily.

Price: A good print media (Newspapers, magazines) may cost you hundreds of Rupees per year. This is quite expensive as compared to the other media.

There are some circumstances when the print media comes to availability. Newspapers are not available all the time and in all places whereas consumers can get access to the internet from anywhere and anytime.

You should plan months of time for printing advertisements in print media on other hand other media don’t have any time limitations.

Information may lose in case of Print Media where as in other media, we can maintain a record of information over a period of time.

There are some pros and cons in print media, but with proper planning you can get the maximum consumers and make it the best and finest media.

Maths in Balanced Diet

1.The quantity and the medicine: Have you ever go through the back side of the medicine strip? The components names are always there with the ratio of quantity used. Example, 0.04mg of paracetamol in each 1g of the medicine.

2. The time interval and items to consume: Do you know how much water you should drink per hour. Our kidney can filter 1l of water every hour, which is around 4 cups of water. So, we can drink 4 cups of water every hour.

3. The ratio of consumption and items not to be consumed: Everything in excess can harm or body. The items having high calorie need to be consumed in a small ratio. Example, a doughnut or donut has 452 calories/100g. So, we can have a small ratio of donut in our balance diet.

The balanced diet is all based on the ratio of quantity to be consumed and the time interval in which it should be taken which entirely deals with mathematics. So, mathematics is completely in food.

Vitamins are important for maintaining good health. While we can’t stress enough just how important all the vitamins and minerals are for our overall well-being, today we’re going to focus on vitamin A. Vitamin A is fat-soluble, a powerful antioxidant, and part of a family of compounds that are vitally important to the body. Vitamin A is the most vital compound as it is the supporter of immune system. It also helps strengthen vision and also assists with normal organ function, reproduction, and many more.

Effect of Sugar Intake on Child

Jun 06, 2017
MBD GROUP
About 60-90% of school age children are being affected by tooth decay as it is the most common non-communicable disease in the world. 92% of adults aged 20-64 have experienced decay in at least one of their permanent teeth. Moreover, the treatment of dental costs 5-10% of total health expenditure in industrialised countries.

Incidence of tooth decay is much higher in children than in adults because children consume more sugary products. Foods that are being provided to the students at nurseries and schools should have a maximum of free sugars in the complete range of foods amounting to no more than 2-5% of energy.

Vending machines should be removed which offers confectionary and sugary drinks in the areas which are controlled by local or central government. There should be no publicly supported establishment of those products that contribute to the expensive problems of dental cavities, obesity and diabetes. The food industry should be given instructions that they should formulate their products to reduce or preferably remove all sugars from their products. The policies of big business should reduce the limit from 10% to 5% but it should be 2.5% as suggested.

A sugar tax should be developed to increase the cost of sugar rich food and drinks. This is the simplest solution to control the flow of sugar because as a tax on a sugar is a mass commodity, since taxing individual foods depending on their sugar content is an enormously complex administrative process. The retail price of sugary drinks and sugar rich products should be increased by at least 20% so as to have a reasonable effect on consumer demand. The level will depend on expert analysis.

Dealing Kids with Aggression

May 20, 2017
MBD GROUP
Aggression grows to such a level that parents feel that they have failed at parenting. It’s not so important why you as a parent aren’t effective at times- what’s more important is what you do about it. Some parents feel out of control in the face of child’s anger and aggression.
When we visit a mall or any shopping complex, sometimes we might have noticed some children throwing tantrums in front of their parents to buy some game and they get obstinate about this thing.

We should as a parent understand what the problem is with the child. Sometimes we must have seen that parent’s weakness is that they themselves get angry and aggressive that they fail to control their child’s behaviour. There is an incident that I have seen. Some parents jump right in, as soon as they hear or see a problem and get in the child’s face. This would only escalate the situation. Let us be clear: we can be gentle, quiet person and an effective parent but still we need to be firm and set clear limits.

There are many ways to handle child’s aggression. We should be consistent. We can’t ignore behaviours one day and respond by screaming at your child the next day. Sometimes we need to take our child out of a situation to help him regain control of his emotions.

At home we can set limits around aggressive behaviour. We can say the rules loud or we can write them down; it often works well for kids to see things in black and white.

There is another thing that we must have experienced. A child commits mistake and when asked to apologise for the mistake then he says, ” I am sorry but the mistake was of that person”. Whenever this kind of situation arises then it is clear that the child has not realised his mistake and he is blaming the other person which is a bad sign of the child’s behaviour.

We should develop ways to have problem solving conversations. For example, whenever a little child threatens his elder sister to get off the computer then we should as a parent not only correct him but later we should have a conversation with them when things calm down.

It’s important to remember that misbehaviours such as fighting and physical aggression occur in day-care and pre-school as well. It’s part of the way children learn to get along with each other, but we need to deal with it immediately if our child is aggressive. We also need to coordinate our intervention with the caregiver so that we both are consistent. We should check in with the caregiver regularly to make sure that the behaviour is improving. And instead of supporting children in their matters we should be judgemental and take right decisions whether they are in favour of our children or not.

At last the conclusion is do not get discouraged. Things can change at any moment and at any time. We will proud at one time when these children will exhibit positive behaviour which we helped them to develop.

Air Pollution Harmful to Young Brain

May 16, 2017
MBD GROUP
Planet Earth is comprised of the atmosphere which is a mixture of complex natural gaseous system. Central Nervous system is the main target of the Air Pollution. Children living in urban areas are the ones who get infected due to high exposure of air pollutants present in the atmosphere. Early exposure to Air Pollution causes the same damaging effects in the brain as Autism and schizophrenia. Air pollution can trigger strokes in Brain.

Lead is one of the most toxic metal and intake of lead can be very harmful to a child. Lead in the blood of children circulates into the brain more frequently. Aggression, behavioural issues such as depression and sleep complaints are the impact of high lead exposure found in children.

Children raised in higher pollution scored lower in intelligence and showed signs of lesions in MRI scanning of the brain in comparison to the children who scored more in intelligence which were raised in lower pollution levels.

Many students who live in the urban areas have their mind diverted or are less concentrated towards their studies. This causes a concern in the minds of parents as well. Moreover, short term exposure to air pollution more likely affects daily mood rather than causes major depressive illnesses. Air pollution was associated with headache and migraine symptoms also.

Air pollution is likely to have a greater impact on asthmatic children as well if they are without access to routine medical care. Generally it is better to stay indoors to reduce your exposure to smoke. Children should be given proper diet and they should be given proper environment so that they can achieve success in life by being healthy.
